Granola Preparation

Alternative Way

Ahhh, there's nothing like homemade granola. It can be used dry as a snack, to sprinkle over your favorite cereal or baked to make bars.

Here's a granola recipe that makes about 6 servings. Just let your imagination go when you're making granola. The basic ingredients are as follows:

  • 2 tablespoons grapeseed or expeller-pressed canola oil
  • 1/2 cup sunflower seeds
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup slivered almonds
  • 1/2 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened coconut
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon

Here are some tips on getting your granola to taste as delicious as it can be:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Put everything except the cinnamon in a large bowl and stir until thoroughly coated.
  3. Turn out onto a greased baking pan with a rim and spread out the ingredients.
  4. Sprinkle the cinnamon on top and bake for 20 minutes, moving everything around until the oats are evenly brown.
  5. Let cool 5 to 10 minutes. Store in a zip-lock bag in the freezer until ready to eat.

Then simply enjoy. Crunch, crunch!
